Greening the Convene Winter'09
Friday, February 20th - Saturday February 21st
Sustainability changes begin with us. One of those changes concerns the reduction of material consumed. Like monks carrying their begging bowls, we need to carry our own
water bottles, eating utensils (& name tags) to meetings. We need to ride TARC, carpool, bicycle or walk to the Green Convene. Climb the stairs rather than ride the elevator.
'Business as usual' is over. Join us in defining new standards. Our marketing used minimum paper based fliering & postering. Our website hosts carpool & TARC tools.
We are using a recycled cardboard podium. We are eating local food. We are reusing, then composting & recycling material.

We ask that you bring your own beverage container, eating utensils and nametag to help us reduce the
need for disposable (still recyclable) options.

In the spirit of the Green Convene, we ask that you walk the walk and find a way to: carpool, bike, ride the bus, walk or skate to the event. Thank you.
The Ways We Green:
As the concept and intent of the Green Convene, is to champion the concepts of sustainability, conservation,
and intelligent growth in our city, attempts are being made to walk the talk of our intended purpose.
- We have teamed up with Eco Steward to utilize compostable, recycled,
and reusable materials in all food and beverage, hospitality, and conference
events.
- We have instituted a system of Carpool, Mass transit, and Pedal Power initiatives to lower the fuel use and congestion issues this type of event will create.
- We intend to offset the footprint as much as possible through the purchase, and distribution of sapling trees, either taken home by the participants or donated to the city to replace some of the loss from recent storms.
- We will use recycled, reclaimed, and otherwise sustainable wood products whenever possible in signage and advertisement, as well as materials distributed at the event.
- We will use local and natural sources for meals and refreshments whenever possible, and will recycle all non bio-degradable items used at the event.
